GoldenEye game multiplayer tricks and tips for N64 Nintendo 64

DID YOU KNOW?
When you hit an opponents weapon with a Golden Gun it won’t kill them but in License To Kill, any weapon hit will kill an opponent. I just found out about this after all these years! One more reason why I’m not a fan of License To Kill…. This is an unfortunate glitch which has been corrected in Perfect Dark. However, there is an amazing GameShark code that accounts for weapon hits in LTK mode which will make you realize just how often weapon hits occur in a game. Check it out for yourself and you'll see.

Have you ever noticed that sound effect during a game that resembles a rattlesnake? Know the one I’m talking about? I only discovered recently that it is actually the sound of weapons and ammo regenerating.

DID YOU KNOW?
Unless you are crouching when you first switch to a Sniper Rifle you can’t get back crouching unless you are killed, right? Well, cycle to the butt end, go scooter styles, then cycle into the Sniper Rifle and you will remain crouched. Just a very handy tip if you are playing the Cradle with Snipers. It’s a must play if you haven’t played that yet!

DID YOU KNOW?
All weapons in GoldenEye multiplayer have the same reload time. This is yet another feature that makes GoldenEye unique from all the new FPS’s that strive for the “realistic” feeling. Long reload times mean constant “defensive” play while taking cover to reload which IS more realistic. Is that better? I’m not sure about that.

Undetonated Remote Mines that you throw before dying can be detonated at a later time. So if you happen to throw some mines as you die, just remember to press the A+B Buttons the second you pick some up after regenerating. You just never know what can happen, especially in the smaller venues. I had an amazing sequence in the Facility where I was in a 3-way battle in the washroom where I died, but threw mines just as I was killed. Luckily after I regenerated, the other 2 players were still battling in the washroom. I was panicking slightly knowing the potential cinema that was unfolding. I was able to pick up more Remote Mines and detonate my leftover mines in the bathroom and scored a Double Kill on the play. Sweet! One of my all time great memories.

It is indeed possible to get up into the bathroom vents in the Facility from below. Most players who don’t have access to the internet have no idea about this! Just climb onto the toilet under the hole in the ceiling.

Hold L + C-Right + Analog-stick Left + Z

When the pressure is on, this is a difficult task so make sure you can actually pull it off.

DID YOU KNOW?
When playing AUTO AIM ON, did you know that it is OFF if you're opponent is unarmed? Check it out, it's true. So if you are making a run for the BODY ARMOR, why not run unarmed making it harder for your opponent to shoot you?

DID YOU KNOW?
That you can cycle through your weapons in reverse by pressing the A and Z buttons together? It's a bit tricky at first since it's almost like having to press the A button first and then the Z button while the A button is being pressed. Very handy trick to use especially when you pick up a bunch of scattered weapons since this way you will always start off with the most powerful weapon in your arsenal. Think of the times you've been unarmed and picked up a bunch of weapons on the ground only to cycle into a klobb first. Remember to use this especially when playing LASERS because you don't have time to mess around or you'll be dead!

DID YOU KNOW?
You can release a THROWING KNIFE more quickly if you hold down the Z button until you're ready throw it. Use this tactic around corners by getting out of harms way, get a knife ready, and then come around the corner for the quick release. If you don't playing THROWING KNIVES, then you really should check 'em out in the BASEMENT which is the only level that makes sense with this weapon. Trust me, it's a blast.

DID YOU KNOW?
You can take your Nintendo 64 controller to a local service center and replace the worn out buttons or stick for about half the cost of a new one? I was kicking myself after realizing this. Playing GoldenEye with a worn out controller sucks, so look in your phone book and call Nintendo to find out where you can take it. They even will give you a refurbished controller!

DID YOU KNOW?
This trick is for Aztec. It is very easy, line yourself up in the pit below the bridge (but not under the bridge) with your left side against the wall, facing the dark area. Now look directly up, press and hold the aim button and then press and hold the strafe button, you should push against the wall now. Let go of the aim for a second, then press it again. You should shoot up to the floor above you. If it doesn't work, adjust your position and try again.

DID YOU KNOW?
It is possible to play GoldenEye online? Not perfect yet, but yes you can play as if you were sitting in the same room! Many variables factor into how long the game will last before errors occur. This will be getting better and better!
